Justin Daugherty, E.I.T.

Engineering Technician

Justin Daugherty has five years of experience in quality control testing of hot mix asphalt (HMA) in accordance with American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) to meet American Public Works Association (APWA), Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) and Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) specifications. His day to day activities include reporting results to clients and analyzing volumetrics of HMA mixes to provide engineering recommendations.

He is also proficient at performing various laboratory asphalt tests that include the determination of theoretical maximum specific gravity, resistance to plastic flow, bulk specific gravity, sand equivalency, resistance of compacted asphalt mixtures to moisture-induced damage, and asphalt binder content using the ignition method.

Justin is well experienced in field testing for city and state municipalities with respect to hot mix sampling, nuclear density testing, coring and profiling to determine the International Roughness Index (IRI) of the pavement surface. In addition, he is knowledgeable in HMA mix designs and has experience with material property testing, sample preparation and mixing, testing and analyzing data.
