Fred has worked in the construction industry as a materials technician for 15 years in Kansas and Missouri. He has worked on various projects, from wastewater facilities to factories to heavy highway construction. His current duties include:

• Supervising technicians in completing tests in the laboratory and in the field 

• Working with field staff, representatives of local municipalities, and third-party inspectors to ensure quality material and placement

• Serving as Radiation Safety Officer

• Sampling asphalt and performing tests according to ASTM and AASHTO guidelines

• Performing nuclear density tests at project sites

• Obtaining core samples for lab testing and visual inspections

• Preparing mix designs in the lab

• Performing lab equipment maintenance and general upkeep
